What Does IBS-Moscow Stand For?
by Sergey Myasoedov

It is not just an abbreviation that represents the Institute of Business Studies, Academy of National Economy under the auspices of the Russian Government. It is also the officially registered logo that belongs to one of the most prestigious and famous business schools in Russia. IBS-Moscow was born of perestroika. It was created in 1988 simultaneously with two other "first" Russian business schools, after more than a 70 year period when business education in Russia just did not exist.

From this point of view I am proud to say that IBS-Moscow is one of the oldest business schools in the country. Though one of "the oldest" business schools in Russia, IBS-Moscow in many ways can be compared to an adolescent. And like most youngsters it sometimes lacks experience. Occasionally it makes mistakes. But like the best of the young people it is talented, open-minded, flexible and reliable.

IBS-Moscow learns quickly from its elder brothers in Europe and the USA:

  • how to be really market-driven;
  • how to be customer-oriented;
  • how to be targeted to continuous quality improvement.

The faculties and staff of IBS-Moscow believe that the globalization of the world economy creates a great challenge as well as opportunity. So IBS-Moscow is always focused on the mutually beneficial international cooperation and enrichment through sharing. We are well aware that any fruitful international cooperation is based on reciprocity and is impossible without mutual trust, a win-win approach, adherence to high ethical standards and social responsibility. We are thankful to our numerous foreign friends from the European and American Universities and Business Schools, to our colleagues from the leading world and regional educational associations who have helped us greatly over the past decade and shared with us their outstanding expertise and experience in the field of management retraining and students' education.

Over 12,000 Russian managers and executives have graduated from IBS-Moscow since it was founded and for the last decade the brand name of IBS-Moscow has become widely known in the Russian business education market. We are confident that the future careers of our market-minded graduates representing the new generation of Russian management will be truly impressive. And we believe that their successful business activities will advance the market reforms in Russia and will facilitate the country's integration into the world economy.
