SPECIAL GUEST!!
Darrell Gooden, an expert in managing change in large governmental institutions aligned with the U.S. national infrastructure, will provide a two hour presentation on Friday describing how he has integrated Spiral Dynamics and Adizes in his hands-on work. Darrell is also a Ph.D.student at Adizes Graduate School, developing his own model for managing change in complex systems.
For information on the Adizes seminar that follows SDi (March 26-28), visit the link above!
Don may invite other special presenters, too. The November seminar included presentations by Marilyn Hamilton, Mark Fabionar, and John Smith at Don's request.
- Marilyn (from Canada) lectures broadly on Spiral Dynamics and teaches for several universities, including Adizes Graduate School. She leads the 3-week online synthesis dialogue that follows Don's live seminar here in Santa Barbara (sign-up below!).
- Mark was Director of Multi-cultural Programs at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, and now works as Director of Educational Programs at Esalen.
- John Smith, founder and exiting CEO of Heathstone Homes, a construction firm, and his colleague Susan Beck discussed the application of spiral principles to their organizations alignment and growth. They are at a point now where John is able to focus his exit strategy on foundation work supporting spiral efforts in the Middle East and elsewhere. Susan, a career military officer (who was up for General at retirement), is key to the operational strategy of the new foundation.

Why Should I Attend?
Spiral Dynamics answers questions like:
- IF it is time for change, then change FROM what TO what?
- WHY do people respond to different motivators?
- WHY and HOW do values arise and spread?
- WHAT is the nature of change?
- HOW should who lead whom to do what, and when?
When using Spiral Dynamics, you:
- communicate with people in ways they understand best on their terms, not yours.
- motivate people in ways that matter to them, at this time, in this place.
- construct organizations that align the work to be done, the people who will be doing it, the management style that fits those people, and the technologies that apply naturally.
- design natural systems within a coherent framework.
Spiral Dynamics can be applied to:
- understand why medicine cannot prevent the spread of HIV
- understand why global crises, such as terrorism, exist and resist diplomacy,
- integrate and align the efforts of stake-holders in complex global hot spots
- integrate and align the efforts of stake-holders with regard to domestic economic and social development issues.
